Living Closer to the Earth
Speaker Series: Living Closer to the Earth; Philip Barr
Have you ever dreamed of living more simply - growing your own food, tending bees and chickens, or exploring alternative ways to power and sustain your home? For the past decade, Philip has been cultivating a 14-acre homestead in the Southern Tier, where solar energy, thoughtful water systems, abundant gardens, and mindful living all come together. He’ll join us at The Shoppe at 18 Mile Creek to share stories from his journey, show what’s possible, and answer your questions about creating a homestead life - whether on acres of land or in your own backyard.
Following this talk, Philip will also offer opportunities for private consultations to help guide your own next steps toward a more self-sufficient, earth-centered way of living.

In this seasonal class, you’ll learn practical tools to support body and mind through winter like what to eat, how to move, and the rituals that help counter cold, heavy, and sluggish qualities that winter brings. We’ll explore the wisdom of opposite tastes and textures, simple kitchen remedies, and grounding practices that keep your inner fire glowing. Leave with rituals you can return to all season long for comfort, vitality, and balance.
